Dubai: Third seed Milen Ianakiev of Germany was among the four seeds remaining in the boy's singles at the 10th UAE Dubai ITF Junior Tennis Championships being played at the Dubai Tennis Stadium.
Ianakiev helped himself to a 6-3, 6-2 win against Dubai-based Ishaan Choubal of India to set up an interesting clash against another Dubai player — his close friend and eight seed Kirksteen Rebuyas.
"It's a funny sort of feeling to go out there and play against a friend. But I have to put friendship aside and give off my best because on offer is a spot in the semi-finals," Ianakiev told Gulf News. Ianakiev has been pleased with the way he has been playing here this year. "I lost in the second round last year and this time I am already looking forward to at least a semi-final. But I will have to first deal with the heat and humidity if I am to give myself any chance against Kirk," the German said.
